Maryann Appel was born in 1961 and was raised in the suburbs of New Jersey. In 1983, she graduated from the University of Hartford in Connecticut with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Advertising Design and a minor in Art History. She has been involved in the graphics business for over 20 years. As an art director, she has worked in the creative departments of corporations and Fortune 500 companies alike, as well as small creative boutiques and non-profit organizations She lives in the rural township of Hardwick, New Jersey with her husband and two children and an assortment of dogs and cats. She is an avid owner of two horses, and an active participant in western pleasure riding. The Memory of Dancing, an exploration of forbidden love and clashing cultures is her first novel.
