The philosophy of this agency, established in 2007, is to contribute to the enrichment of the world and its peoples by contributing to making interesting, needed, or just entertaining books available to a wide variety of people by helping get quality, saleable books in print. The agency will particularly focus on emerging writers and debut books. Unfolding World Literary Agency makes no apologies for being located outside New York City. While New York remains the hub of publishing and literary agencies, the technology of today has made living there unnecessary. In fact, major agents and some publishers have already discovered the same. Subsidiary markets in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Miami are a case in point as well as markets in London, Frankfort, Canada, and Australia, all reachable with the click of a mouse or the punch of a button. In the spirit of truth and trust, two of the prime values behind Unfolding World Literary Agency, the agency freely acknowledges there are major agencies with a longer track record and greater access to the known names of publishing. If an author can get into such an agency, this agency wishes them well. However, we believe that for other authors desiring someone who will make them a priority, UFLA is a fit. If that does not prove to be so, we will part amicably. In the same spirit, if we believe your work is not ready for publication we will honestly tell you so. We are a new agency so like all new businesses growing as we practice. We encourage all potential author clients to ask all the questions they want to satisfy themselves before signing with the agency. We will not pretend to be what we are not. Please see the policies page for further intent of the agency. About the Agent Mattie Tolley brings to her new venture as a literary agent a life of adventure and varied successful professional careers. She is an accomplished professional non-fiction writer in her field, a poet, and a university educator with an international focus. From her roots in south central Oklahoma she has lived and traveled extensively nationally and internationally, first as an international community health and development nurse specialist then as an educator and consultant. Unwilling to retire to a 'couch potato' life she accepted a position as a literary assistant for author Dr. Dudley Weeks and self taught herself the business of agenting and publishing. Finally realizing that although there are thousands of agents, many good ones, all of them are swamped with manuscripts, making the likelihood of a new book or debut author getting attention slim, she decided to put her new skills along with her lifelong passion for reading anything and everything to work. She brings to the agency time and a passion to see good books of all categories in print and makes no apologies for being a newcomer to agenting. Like everything else she has done, her attitude is "first you start!" About the Boss
